How We Have Adapted To COVID-19
A number of changes were taking place over the last couple of months, and we were unsure of how we were planning on adapting to all of them. Companies were now working on getting their staff to clock in a particular number of hours remotely, so they did not have to travel and come to the office often. Throughout the initial stages of the pandemic, and whenever there was an increase in infections, the Government implemented a national lockdown to slow the spreading virus and had most people stay indoors and only leave if they needed essential services or medical supplies.
Many companies were struggling to stay open, with employers constantly saying that remote working was not bringing them the same results they were getting otherwise. Even employees stated that they were finding it challenging to work when constantly reminded of errands, responsibilities, chores, and a lot more throughout their workday. Additionally, there were challenges with the work that they were getting done because they could not coordinate them with the rest of their team in person.
Many companies were moving away from marketing or were not investing in their marketing budgets, especially with tight budgets and departments continually shutting down. Running businesses or companies during the pandemic was very challenging. We were seeing changes now, but they did not seem like they were going to last very long. If we have to foresee the changes taking place, we see COVID-19 impacting every business in some way or the other. To continually keep our doors open, we have to abide by all rules and regulations when it comes to COVID-19 to ensure the highest level of health and safety for everyone. The last thing that we want is for someone else to get sick because of a company being unsafe with their rules.
As a company, we specialize in direct marketing and promotional events. We conduct all of our events directly for the public, in a public setup, so we must abide by all rules and regulations. We make sure people are wearing masks and maintaining social distance. There were other rules that we had to get through as well, and we were constantly updating on those to make sure we were at the top of our game.
While we made many changes during the pandemic, including our work timings and office hours, which were now from Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We now work from Wednesday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm but did not make any changes to communication patterns from our ambassadors to the public. The only changes are applying and following all the COVID-19 rules at all events and office settings.
We are currently working from our office and following all rules and regulations with COVID-19. However, there were points of time during the pandemic where we worked remotely because we were not allowed to leave the house. People had to stay safe during the pandemic as we had to make sure that they were doing everything to be safe at that point. We found that maintaining social distancing can be a challenge at some times. Additionally, we require all our staff to wear a mask.
When it comes to social distancing, the rules were quite challenging for many companies and offices because they were not allowed to bring in the same number of people they were bringing in pre-pandemic. They had to start following the social distancing rules to make the process slightly easier. We were fortunate through the process because we have a fairly large office, and everyone is spread out when all the Brand Ambassadors are in the office, but our core office staff is minimal therefore, we do follow rules and regulations when we are unable to social distance.
Even working remotely was possible through the pandemic. Zoom allowed us to continue recruiting for our business and has helped us continue to grow. We clean the office first thing in the morning after someone has been to the office and then at the end of the day when everyone has left.
We are using the same platforms that we were using pre-pandemic, and the only change that we were making now was the amount that we were using Zoom. We were now using Zoom for everything, including internal meetings as well as our client correspondence. With the changes taking place, we are conducting our first round of interviews on Zoom. Additionally, we are now introducing Zoom meetings to all industry partners throughout Canada and the United States. We are always looking to adapt to the new changes taking place and the new technologies out there.
When it comes to the pandemic, the most important thing we came to terms with when it comes to COVID-19 is understanding the severity of the virus and handling it in the highest regard to ensure everyone’s safety.
